AFRICAN CONNECTION GALA


On Tuesday, August 17, the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Foundation (MMGF) of Ghana, in collaboration with Afrika House of T&T, will host a Live Virtual Fundraising Gala, at the Zylofon Media Forecourt, Ghana, at 6 p.m.



The event's programme includes a dinner and dance gala with some acclaimed artistes of Ghana, UK, Jamaica, Barbados and T&T. Caribbean Steelpan Connextion (CSC) will provide the Trinbago flavour to the mix.


Other artistes, and their countries, performing are Oyedu Blay Ambolley, Redfyah and Blaxx Rasta (Ghana); Steel Pulse, Panache Steelband and Prince Mydas (UK); Cutty Ranks and Capleton (Jamaica); and, Aja Adisa Saf of Barbados.



Afrika House was formed by local Avery Ammon, a member of Desperadoes Elders Organisation and the Merikin community, in 1985. Located in Belmont, Afrika House invites and hosts Africans from West Africa in T&T. Jamaica-born Naomi Palmer-Buchanan, a resident of Ghana, is the point person for the MMGF.



The August 17 gala will also include presentations by Dr Julius Garvey, son of Marcus Mosiah Garvey, and Professor Plo Lumumba.
